Identifying leakage with a minimal number of test sets
BOPTEST
Testing the Blowout Preventer (BOP) is important to operators and drilling companies, both for strategic and
operational reasons. The exposure of a company to risk, both in terms of money and reputation, is significant
in case of blow-outs. A well-publicized example is the recent blow-out of the Macondo well in the Gulf of
Mexico, which happened in April 2010. BOPTEST simulates your choke manifold network and derives the
minimum number of test sets required. The benefit of the tool is significant to identify leakage. BOPTEST is a
novel approach for BOP testing.
BOPTEST optimizes the BOP testing by determining the minimum number of tests required, while all valves are
tested. This is particularly useful, in case of leakage, when BOPTEST will determine the minimum number of
additional tests such that leakage can be identified.
